The Wonders of Financial Confidence

December 19, 2022

You could say that December has been a busy month of virtual events in the Moso world! I’ve recently wrapped up 1 guest virtual event and 3 masterclasses of my own.

My favorite part was hearing from attendees—about their hopes and dreams, their struggles, and hearing them get excited about what’s possible with a happier approach to money.

Here are some of the answers they shared when I asked what feeling they would like to have about themselves + their money:

  • Confident
  • Safe
  • Stress-free
  • Empowered
  • Content
  • Freedom of choice
  • Affirmed
  • Intentional
  • Secure

Let’s chat about confidence, shall we? It was often the first word out of the gate, and the one that was echoed or upvoted.

What is financial confidence?

It’s trusting yourself with money.

It’s trusting yourself to make financial decisions.

It’s a willingness to get advice and input.

It’s a feeling of standing on your own two feet, and knowing that those feet are capable of walking.

It’s taking responsibility for your financial decisions.

It’s turning off the “I can’t do this” thoughts that lead to demoralization and powerlessness.

It’s ditching the shame of past decisions.

It’s a belief that you can manage your money to achieve your goals.

It’s getting back in the saddle or fixing mistakes to get back on track.

How do you get it?

In large part, you get it by doing the very things used above to describe financial confidence. Like every worthwhile thing in life—discipline, motivation, success, satisfaction—it is earned by doing

There are certainly things you can do to improve your money mindset without changing your financial actions. Many a book talks about implementing an abundance mindset and “attracting money” through your thoughts, and I agree that there is immense power in our thoughts.

But there is so much power in action.

Let’s pretend you’ve just finished a Netflix binge session. You’re on the couch “admiring” your messy house. As long as you remain on the couch doing nothing about it, you’ll wallow in the abyss of self-loathing (name that Christmas movie, anyone?).  But almost the instant you get off the couch and begin tidying, you feel better.

Money management is very much the same way. And especially when you begin an approach that’s proven to work, the discipline, the success and the confidence come sweeping in. And stay.

What does it practically look like?

The fruits of financial confidence correlate to the inputs. Meaning, you do certain things and then you get similar things. It’s a wonderfully virtuous cycle and includes inputs and results such as:

  • A consistent plan for your money.
  • Knowing how far your savings could carry you because you know how much life really costs you.
  • A direction for your life and money instead of a haphazard zig-zag route. Sure, you may still have small deviations and missteps on your path, but you’ll have the information and tools you need to get back on track so much sooner.

Who can have it?

Anyone. This isn’t one of those things some people have and others can never have. No way! Anyone who is willing to do the things that yield lasting financial confidence can have it. Such good news, right? Especially when the doing doesn’t require deprivation or misery.

I’d love to help you realize financial confidence for yourself! The Magic in Your Money course is all about getting you feeling and being financially confident, loving the results and the process.
